Salt Cay also happens to be one of the best places anywhere to see whales up close. The annual migration of these magnificent creatures  takes them right through the waters of the TCI.  Their long  journey to warmer waters  is a long one, undertaken by expectant mothers and amorous adults seeking the safety of the shallow banks here in the TCI and the Silver Banks of the DR .   At Salt Cay the deep Atlantic emerges close to shore which through February & March makes Salt Cay an ideal site to view these magnificent cetaceans in the wild.

Freedive Provo has teamed up with Sports Adventure company 'Caicu Naniki' to offer you a series of 3 night packages across to this stunning little island throughout the year.  Departing Wednesday afternoon and returning Saturday morning you'll fly from Providenciales to Salt Cay at sunrise on a small plane (30 minutes flight time).  Working with longtime resident and owner of Salt Cay Divers, Debbie Manos, you'll be take nyou to one of the rustic local inns.  Debbie is a certified boat captain, whale watching naturalist, as well as PADI dive instructor with many years of experience both in and on these waters.

Whilst these trips are for certified Freedivers, if you're not yet certified it's not a problem, we've designated the Monday & Tuesday prior to the trip for training, you can do your SSI Level 1 course before you go.

*Nature is what nature is, and whilst sightings are highly likely there can never be any guarantee. However, the island is stunning all year round, with reef walls starting around 35ft (and dropping to 7000ft!), rich with hard and soft corals.  There are deserted cays to be discovered, kayaking to be done & adventures to be had at Salt Cay.  Let's not forget one of the best kept secrets of Salt Cay, the unsalvaged 18th century British warship, the HMS Endymion, that sank in 1790.  She's in less than 40 ft of water and as the photos below show, wrecke anchors & cannons litter the sea bed.

Salt Cay is the small, remote island that time forgot-- it's also where you go to forget time. Wild donkeys and farm animals roam the streets. There are hardly any cars. Everyone is friendly and laid back. We’re talking a 2.5 mile long, seriously mellow little place.  We have scheduled freediving trips to this serene and tranquil little place throughout the year.  It makes for the perfect addition  to your Turks and Caicos vacation.
